DBpuzzle1.jpg (8651 bytes) Teamwork, speed, quality: the secrets of construction success

LDS Temple in Billings, MTThe vision of a successful project includes lower costs, faster delivery, and enhanced quality.  At Midwest Industries, we are at the forefront of making these factors a reality.

Paul using Design Data SDS/2 With Midwest Industries on board during the design phase of a project, we offer decades of experienced and talented steel professionals, the latest in technology, and sophisticated management systems.  Our influence on projects in the early stages result in lowered building costs, faster project completion times, and certified quality.

Our experience, and documented studies show that we can offer the possibility of an average project cost savings of 6%, a decrease in construction time of 12% and a shortening of the overall project time by 33%!

Steel Detailing and DesignOur structural steel experts work with the design team, and sometimes the owner, and General Contractor, to enhance the project by suggesting the most economical materials and connection designs, fabrication and erection methods. Construction methods and sequences are discussed and decided upon.  Often we use our SDS/2 system to model the steel frame, and provide or verify connection design calculations.  This speeds up the engineering process, and gets a jump start on the steel detailing.

Beams ready for a projectPart of this involvement includes sequencing a project during the design phase, where we are able to begin shop drawings, material procurement, and even fabrication on early phases before the later phases of the project have been completely designed.  This saves weeks or months off of the construction schedule.

The traditional Design-Bid-Build method of construction is coming under fire for fostering animosities, frustration, selfishness, low quality, finger-pointing, long construction times, over-priced change orders, and little project satisfaction.

Fabrication ShopThe Design-Build or Negotiated method is the piece of the construction puzzle that has been missing.   Owners know they are getting the best deal on the structural segment their building, General Contractors experience improved profitability, greater project control, opportunities for innovation, and a sense of satisfaction unique in the construction industry.  Change orders are a mute point, and teamwork is the reason for construction success.

AISC Quality Certified certificateWhy not include the steel professionals here at Midwest Industries in the design phase of your next project!?  We offer several fee negotiation options that are mutually beneficial and ensure price comforts for the owner, contractor, or owner's representative.  We are convinced this method saves the project time and MONEY!

If you would like more information about this exciting team concept that enables a faster, more cost-effective way to get a project built, please contact our Fabrication Manager,  Kevin Brownlee.
